About Ohio Courier
An automated digest of new court opinions for Ohio: what the Supreme Court of Ohio, the twelve Ohio Courts of Appeals, the Ohio Court of Claims and the federal courts for Ohio have released, sorted by court, appellate district and county, each linked to its source.
The Sixth Circuit hears appeals from Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan and Tennessee, so its list includes cases from Kentucky, Michigan and Tennessee as well.
It is for anyone who follows Ohio cases: lawyers and paralegals, students, reporters, local officials, businesses watching for their name, and people waiting on an appeal.
What it is not
- Not legal advice and not a law firm. Nothing here tells you what an opinion means for you. Talk to a lawyer.
- Not the official record. Slip opinions can be revised before they are final, and the feeds Ohio Courier reads can be late or miss a case. The court's own version controls.
- Not a newsroom. Nobody here reports, writes or summarizes anything, and no AI writes or rewrites anything. Every case name and quoted line is the court's own text.
- Not affiliated with or endorsed by any court, the Supreme Court of Ohio, the State of Ohio, the federal judiciary, Free Law Project or any newspaper named "Courier".
How it works
Every hour a program reads each court's public opinion feed from CourtListener, stores what is new and, for Ohio state courts, checks for the official PDF at the Supreme Court of Ohio. Details on Sources.
